DROP HERALD

Edition

About

A public daily record of what landed on Steam, and which PC games you can claim for free.

Three lists, every edition

Steam Today is the games Steam marked as releasing on that edition date. Free Today is free-to-keep giveaways on Steam, Epic, GOG, and other PC stores, plus Steam titles currently priced at zero that are not already in the giveaway feed. Those zero-price listings are usually free weekends: you can play them now, and they are not necessarily yours to keep. Top-rated on sale today is a fixed rule over public Steam specials: a high positive review score, a large review count, and a real discount, sorted by rating and then by the discount. It is not a sponsored slot.

How the date works

Each edition uses the Steam store calendar, America/Los_Angeles. The dated URL stays up as an archive. A refresh runs several times a day. If a source fails, the previous good copy for that edition is kept and the page says so.

Where the data comes from

New releases come from the public Steam store search, sorted by release date. Names, short descriptions, and header images are requested from Steam's public app details in English, Brazilian Portuguese, and Spanish. Giveaways come from the public GamerPower feed. Top-rated on sale comes from the public Steam specials search plus Steam's public review summary, cached so a later refresh does not ask again the same day. Steam and GamerPower need no API key. A historical-low badge, on English and Portuguese cards only, comes from IsThereAnyDeal and is shown as they publish it. When Steam has no translation, the card says the description is the original. Prices are the Steam store prices for the United States (English), Brazil (Portuguese), and Mexico (Spanish), cached so we do not hammer the store. A game page keeps Steam's numeric review summary (the verdict, the percent, and the count) and does not store reviewer names, avatars, profiles, or the text of a review. Screenshots and the trailer come from the Steam store page.

Independence

Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation. Drop Herald is not affiliated with Valve, Steam, Epic Games, GOG, GamerPower, or IsThereAnyDeal. Claim every game on the store that is giving it away. The SteamDB link on a card is only a link to that site's public app page. We do not copy SteamDB data.

Who runs this site

Drop Herald is an independent editorial site. It is not a store and it is not operated by Valve, Epic Games, GOG, itch.io, or GamerPower. The publisher answers at contact@dropherald.com. There is no user account. This page does not publish a company registration number.

Editorial policy

Steam Today lists games Steam marks as released on the edition date. Free Today lists PC giveaways the public GamerPower feed marks as active, plus Steam titles at a 100 percent discount that are not already in that feed. Those are usually free weekends, and the card says so. Top-rated on sale today keeps games that clear a fixed review and discount bar, then sorts them by rating and discount. Short descriptions are the store's text or GamerPower's text, not a review we wrote. When Steam has no translation, the card says the description is the original. We do not take payment to add, rank, or hide a game.

Games Steam tags for sexual content are left out of the lists once those tags are stored. The tags we treat as sexual are some nudity or sexual content, adult-only sexual content, and frequent nudity or sexual content. Violence-only and general mature tags are not removed by that filter. A game fetched before the tag was stored can remain until the next refresh. Giveaways with no Steam app id have no tag to read. Corrections go to contact@dropherald.com.

Advertising is not on the site today. If it is turned on later, slots are labeled Advertisement, sit away from the navigation, and are never required for reading the lists.
