Cookie policy
What can be stored on your device, who sets it, and how to refuse it. Ads are not active yet.

Consent storage (not a cookie)
dh_ga_consent in localStorage remembers Accept or Refuse for analytics. When the banner also asks about advertising, dh_ad_consent remembers that choice. Both stay on your device. Drop Herald does not receive them. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the banner, except where Google's certified message replaces it. Clearing site data deletes the choice.
Google Analytics 4
Set only after you accept analytics. _ga, about two years, distinguishes visitors. _ga_ followed by the measurement id, about two years, stores session state. Google's description: https://policies.google.com/technologies/cookies and https://policies.google.com/privacy. Browser opt-out: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Before you accept, the browser does not request the Google library.
Advertising cookies (not set today)
Google, a third-party vendor, may use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on prior visits if we enable AdSense. Names Google has used include IDE and DSID (DoubleClick, on the order of 13 months), __gads and __gpi (AdSense), and a short-lived test cookie. They are not set while ads are off. If we turn ads on, they are set only after advertising consent, which starts denied. Opt out of personalized ads at https://adssettings.google.com and https://myadcenter.google.com, or via https://www.aboutads.info/choices and https://www.youronlinechoices.eu/ in the EEA.
